What is the material composition of my favourite Constellations jewellery?

Almost all of our jewellery is crafted from real 18ct Gold Vermeil or 18ct gold plating on a base of 925 sterling silver, or our entry level price point - fashion focused styles may be crafted from gold plated brass. You can find the exact composition of the product on its product page.

What is the difference between Gold Plated, Gold Vermeil and Gold Filled?

Gold-plated jewellery has a base metal, such as brass, covered with a thin layer of gold. This relies on a chemical process to combine the base metal into a solid piece with a layer of gold on the surface.

Gold vermeil is similar to gold-plated jewellery, but the layer of gold is thicker and the base metal is Sterling Silver. It will last longer than gold-plated jewellery, but can still tarnish if exposed to water, sweat, or perfume. See our Care Guide on how to care for your pieces.

Gold-filled jewellery, contrary to the name, is not actually filled with gold. Rather, a thick layer of gold is bonded to the base metal. The gold layer is 5% of the total weight. Gold-filled and gold vermeil jewellery are great economical alternatives to solid gold.

All types of Gold Plating listed above have the appearance of solid gold.

Most of our pieces are crafted in real Gold Vermeil, or are real Gold Filled. Visit our product pages to see the exact composition of each of our jewellery styles.

Why 18ct gold?

The 18 carat part offers jewellery where the gold content is as pure as possible, whilst still being practical and durable.
